The house and its history

The holiday house Haus Even is situated at an altitude of 1,340 m before the village of Feld - right next to the beautiful, rushing Schwarzach river. It is ideal for a private holiday with family and friends - far away from hotel tourism! Immersed in nature and yet not isolated, since it's close to the ski and recreation paradise St. Jakob i. Def.

The two holiday apartments can also be rented for several weeks!

Each apartmentis is self-contained (own entrance) and fully and lovingly furnished with genuine old country furniture as well as valuable ceramics, paintings, etc.
Haus Even is a non-smoking residence and is equipped with smoke detectors.

Parking at the house is no problem!

History of the house

Haus Even has been family-owned for three generations. It was purchased by my grandmother in 1959 as a vacation home, completely renovated, refurbished and lovingly supplemented over the years by my parents. Now "Even" has been revitalized, modernized and expanded.

In 2013, a central heating (pellets) was installed with underfloor heating in parts.

What makes this accommodation unique

The holiday home Haus Even is ideal for a private holiday in a sophisticated atmosphere with family and friends, far away from hotel tourism. The house is lovingly decorated with genuine old country furniture and many valuable furnishings and pictures to create a cozy, relaxing and unforgettable atmosphere (e.g. rustic-style beds, chests, cupboards, grandfather clocks, ceramics, pictures...). The many valuable furnishings deserve particular attention (such as hand-made embroideries, cross-stitch pillows, ceramics, ornaments, etc.), hence the need for a security deposit.

During my project in 2013 - the rebuilding, revitalization and modernization of House Even - I newly fell in love with the house and the region!

While driving into the valley, I already find myself immersing into a different world – a world of pure nature, wonderfully fresh and crisp mountain air and incomparable high-altitude mountain water. By the way, Haus Even gets its water from a dedicated high mountain spring! The starry sky at night is out of this world, I just cannot get enough of it!

There is nothing like getting up in the morning to have a look at the mountain peaks all illuminated by the morning light, it is so unique and I would not want to miss this environment and these atmospheres! I also got to know the Deferegger people anew during the construction of my house: They are reliable and decent people, very helpful and simply adorable...

Particular advantages of the location

  • Cross-country ski trail directly behind the house
  • Free skibus! Skibus stop 1 min. walking distance (only across the bridge)
  • The ski area is 12 min. away by car/skibus.

About me – Christine Unger

I spent most of my holidays as a child and teenager with my family in Haus Even – therefore this region is connected with beautiful childhood memories!

In the ski resort St. Jakob I learned to ski and was later encouraged by excellent instructors to train for the Styrian ski instructor exam, which I successfully completed.

Haus Even was given to me by my mother in 2012 – it has now been in the possession of our family for three generations.

I have lived in Vienna for a few years now and love to enjoy the Defereggen Valley and my house over and over again for several days at a time in order to relax and recover. Should I be in the Defereggen Valley at the same time as you, I will of course gladly be available for personal questions as well!
